Shetland Sheepdogs
Sheepdogs are mammals. They also are carnivores and belong to a group called canines.
Sheepdogs have fast skinny legs. They also have sharp pointy canine teeth. Their paws are hard as rock. Their ears can be big and pointy. They vary in size. Dogs use their teeth to impale things like meat and steak.
Sheepdogs are loud noisy animals. When dogs hunt in packs the top dog growls at the others and tells them what to do. They also communicate with others to make a plan for attack. Some of the other dogs are submissive because they don’t want to fight with the top dog by crouching down. They have moist and sensitive noses which can smell things very well. They use their claws to help them run and for gripping things.
Sheepdogs were once wild but now are tame. In the wild sheepdogs captured their prey but they were domesticated.Farmers thought about dogs catching their prey and trained dogs to chase sheep instead. The farmer trains the dogs to chase sheep and to regroup them.Sheepdogs are used to surround sheep and to bring them back to the barn. One of the breeds they use for farming are called Shetland Sheepdogs.
Dogs are very intelligent mammals and they are very helpful.
